SAO PAULO (Reuters) – South Africa has superior in talks for a possible buy of Embraer’s C-390 Millennium, the Brazilian planemaker stated on Wednesday, after showcasing the army cargo plane within the African nation for the second time.
The corporate voiced optimism about clinching a sale as South African authorities stated they had been advancing within the “necessary steps for the selection of the much needed” plane for its Nationwide Protection Power, in keeping with a press release.
Embraer didn’t element what number of planes might be offered or at which stage the method was.
A possible deal would characterize the primary C-390 sale to an African nation. The airplane has to date been tapped by developer Brazil in addition to Portugal, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, the Netherlands and South Korea.
The multi-mission plane, which competes with Lockheed Martin (NYSE:)’s C-130, “is perfectly suited to replace the legacy aircraft currently in service with South Africa,” Embraer stated.
The Brazilian firm introduced the C-390 to President Cyril Ramaphosa and Protection Minister Angie Motshekga on the Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition held earlier this month on the Waterkloof Air Power Base, it stated.
Brazil and South Africa are each members of the BRICS group of main rising economies.
