WARSAW (Reuters) – An object flew into Polish airspace throughout Russia’s assault on Ukraine on Monday and possibly landed on Polish territory, state information company PAP reported, citing the military’s operational command.
PAP reported that searches for the item, which was not a missile, had been underway.
“During Monday’s massive attack on Ukrainian territory, we probably had an object flying into Polish territory,” Common Maciej Klisz, Operational Commander of the Armed Forces, was quoted as saying by Polsat Information.
“The object was confirmed by radiolocation by at least three radar stations. I had full control of the object, I was ready to shoot it down.”
Poland, a NATO ally, shares an extended border with Ukraine and has been a staunch supporter of Kyiv’s combat in opposition to invading Russian forces.
Russia launched greater than 100 missiles and round 100 assault drones at Ukraine throughout Monday’s morning rush hour, killing no less than 5 individuals and putting power amenities nationwide, officers mentioned.
